Hello People!

So I hope every ones Pre-Halloween Weekend and Halloween was a success! Hopefully none of you didn’t have any wardrobe MALFUNCTIONS!!!!  EEEK!!!

Well my Halloween was amazing! I actually celebrated it on Saturday night with a group of my friends at my house to start then we went out to Davie Clubbing! It’s always fun to get together a big group of your craziest friends, a couple cocktails and some outrageous outfits to set the mood for the night’s mayhem!

In our sordid entourage we had a Sexy Police Officer, A Rock Star (mostly leather, mesh and lots of eyeliner! LOL), Cat Woman, A Cowboy and of course an “INDIAN” (Which was me of course)!

So let me give you a bit of background on why I chose to be an “Indian”! Well as you read in my bio I’m half First Nations so I thought it would be kind of ironic to dress up as an “Indian” but this type of “Indian” is what Hollywood has portrayed “Indians” to look like over the years. See pic below!

As you can see the stereotypical “Indian” wears a head dress, has a loin cloth and carries a tomahawk or bow and arrow! Well this generalization of what all “Indians” are thought to have looked like or still look like is very biased and untrue. This representation which was mass produced by Hollywood and took many facets of First Nations culture and amalgamated them into one, with mostly the “Prairie Indians” aesthetics depicted.

So my reasoning behind dressing up as an “Indian” was more so to be cheeky and play on peoples ignorance and maybe give them a bit of an education! So throughout the night I asked people to guess what I was dressed up as! Obviously they replied back and said I was an “Indian”! Then I went into my little educational speech of how this was one representation of an “Indian” and how there are hundreds of distinct and diverse First Nations (correct terminology)  people out there who all get stereotyped as the type of “Indian” I was portraying that night! I must say I got some surprised looks as well as some thoughtful discussion on the topic and many people were very interested and intrigued to hear what I had to say!

All in all I had a great night being an “Indian” and I got to educate many goblins, vampires and witches that night which was the highlight of my Halloween! Ohh but I have to say anyone who can pull off a loin cloth on a shivery cold Halloween night is definitely a WARRIOR in my books! Hehe!

Hope you had a great Halloween Everybody!
